Gap Boucle Moto Jacket

I ordered this lovely jacket few weeks back in XS for about $20 after using a couple of coupons.  I do have long arms for my height so I thought the fit was pretty good overall especially the sleeve length (I like it slightly longer).  The moto style zip opening is an interesting design twist although only one side flaps open most of the time I'm wearing it.

It is very comfortable but occasionally the back of the collar gets a little itchy because of the boucle fabric rubbing against my neck.  This jacket is also decently warm in 50-60 degree Fahrenheit weather. I also enjoy the brownish color since it makes a good neutral piece of outerwear for my wardrobe.  It also seems like a classic piece as well that I can enjoy for a few seasons hopefully.

I'm a fan of boucle and tweed jackets because of its understated elegance.  These jackets go great with almost any type of outfit whether dressed up or down (mostly dressing down on my part).

The Boucle Moto Jacket is on sale in limited sizes for $34.99 at the Gap right now!

Other boucle jackets that I love and covet:

IRO $495

Vince $395

L'AGENCE $675

Love Bunnies Ring Holder & YSL Arty Ring

When I saw this adorable ceramic bunny ring holder from one of my fave blogs Feather Factor, I knew I had to have it!  Bunnies also hold a sentimental value to me since I was born in the year of the rabbit.  I couldn't go wrong with this purchase since it was only $12.

I'm also showcasing an ebay find of an interesting version of the YSL Arty Ring.  It has a pretty purple stone with pearl accents.  I did some research and found pictures of a gold version.  I really like it since its a lovely twist from the traditional ever so popular Arty ring that can be seen on many bloggers.

Ceramic bunny ring holder available here (also comes in an gorgeous Tiffany blue)
or you can get the adorable elephant here!

Wedding

I had a great time at my cousin's wedding!  It was a beautiful outdoor wedding with a traditional chinese reception in Chinatown afterward in the evening.  My four year old was also the ringbearer! It's his first time wearing a tie.

Since my dress to Rent the Runway was a fail, I decided to wear my BB Dakota Jack dress which was so comfortable and also did not require a strapless bra.  It was freezing that day, so I decided to wear my Anthro ruffled cardigan which goes nicely with dresses.  I switched out to these Manolo Blahnik-styled sandals here by Touch Ups at the reception since I didn't want to get my heel trapped in the grass.  I was going to use my Balenciaga envelope clutch but went with my newish Givenchy Pandora (post about this coming soon) so I could carry my camera and zoom lens for photos.

What I wore:

Sparrow Cardigan from Anthropologie
Jewelry: Yves Saint Laurent Arty in Black/Gunmetal similar, Robert Coin Puff Heart Pendant similar

Rent the Runway Fail

I chose to rent a dress from Rent the Runway as my outfit to a family member's wedding I was attending last Saturday.  When I received the Milly "Cotton Candy" ruffle dress, I was very disappointed with the condition of the dress (the one that fit)! Since they allow you to choose two sizes, I went with size 0 (my usual size) and 2.  To my dismay after upon closer inspection, the size 0 dress was in really worn condition.  I was surprised that they would actually send me a dress where many parts of the silk fabric were fraying and running, the belt loop and tie belt were missing! I tried it on and it looked like the dress had lived through many occasions and that it was being worn for the 15th time.

I reached out to RTR immediately and they offered a refund.  I spoke to them again today and they said it was minus the shipping charges.  WTF? After much arguing, she agreed to refund the $12.95 shipping fee.  Insane, what kind of company sends out a damaged dress and bags the shipping fee? I will NEVER be using them again.  If you do plan on using them, be sure to have a back up dress ready even though that totally defeats the point of renting.

They seriously need to go through inventory and weed out the POS dresses.

Looking good so far but...

Ruffle sleeves looking incredibly worn and gross

Shearling lined TOMS

So in the wintertime, many of us are smitten with the warm fleece lining in Ugg boots, so TOMs has created a Nordstrom exclusive shoe with fleece lining!  Reasonably priced at $59.95, the neutral colored slip on shoe is made with a Herringbone outer fabric lined with soft cozy fleece to keep our feet cushy during chilly days.

Still available here at Nordstrom.

Isabel Marant Dicker in Taupe

Ugh, just when I nearly paid off my credit cards, I tack on another item and a couple more.  This time it was somewhat justified since they seem to be the HG of boots this fall.   I took a chance and placed myself on the waitlist at Lake Boutique even though they told me there were already two people ahead of me waiting for the only two pairs they were receiving.  I ended up getting a call last week saying one of the ladies did not reply back! Woot!  Now I've got to make a trip down to the cobbler to get them resoled even though the Dixie has held up pretty well after a few wears.

ETA 6/30/12 The Isabel Marant Dicker Boot is available khaki and black in all sizes at Matches Fashion!  Free worldwide shipping for orders $310 and up with code "FREE06".

Last Summer Splurge

Got these lovely Siwy shorts from Revolve by price matching for 40% off.  I'm a huge fan of light wash jeans!  One of my final splurges for summer.. I'm bummed its already September! I went down a size for this particular style, I usually take a 24 in the Hannah cropped skinny style so I was lucky to nab these in size 23.

Leopard

I totally forgot I bought this pink leopard tank dress from H&M a while back and finally found it while digging through my clothes.  Decided that it was too much leopard and threw on a white tee to turn it into a miniskirt. I put on my Isabel Marant Dixie boots (which I'm still very in love with) and called it a day.

What I'm wearing:
Necklace: Forever 21 here
Tee: Vince size xs similar here
Dress: H&M size xs similar here
Boots: Isabel Marant Dixie (sold out, but closest thing is Anthracite Dickers)
Bag: Balenciaga

Bridal Shower

Today I went to my friend (cousin's fiance) bridal shower.  I wore a floral dress from Topshop and modeled with Christian Louboutin Miss Tack Pump in Taupe.  Ended up wearing Jimmy Choo flats instead for comfort.  The little candy/dessert table was adorable!

Isabel Marant Dixie Boots

I know the Dicker boots are all the rage right now, but I opted for the Dixie because of the lower heel height.  I'm in love! These boots are so versatile and can work with shorts, skinnies, dresses, and skirts.  Ordered them from Matches Fashion and the service was superb. Though I would have loved a pair of the taupe color, I ended up with the brown since it's a little better at being stain resistant. I'm adding black Dickers to my wishlist though!

Sizing: I am usually a 6.5 in American sizing and the 37 fit perfect without socks.  If I wore athletic socks it would probably be too snug.  So for half sizes I recommend going up to the next full size.  Also, the Isabel Marant Dicker boots are back in stock at Matches for only $420 with free shipping.

What I'm wearing:
Boots: Isabel Marant Dixie (sold out) (Dickers available here)
Shorts: Frankie B. here
Cardigan: J Crew Girls size 14 here
Tank: Vince (old)
Necklace: Tom Binns

Mason by Michelle Mason Ruffle Tank Dress

I fell in love with this designer after browsing endlessly for a comfortable dress to wear to my cousin's wedding coming up in October.  This Mason by Michelle Mason ruffle tank dress in nude looked perfect because of its delicate and gorgeous ruffled bottom.  It popped up in size 2 the other day on Shopbop, so I figured why not give it a try.  I was really hoping for a size 0 but it seems like her dresses sell like hotcakes even at full price, but I was able to get it during its first markdown of 30% off paying about $286.

What I didn't like was that the neckline was too deep and kept showing my bra (cup area).  Also racer back tank style isn't my 100% fave either. The drop waist was way too big after tying it up.  It kept bunching up in a unflattering way like I had a spare tire around tummy area. Bleh! At this price if I don't love it.. it's going back.  Maybe a size 0 would have been better.. but I'll never know! So off it went back to Shopbop... so if you're looking for a size 2.. it will pop up in the next couple of weeks.

So my goal now is to find a gray or nude/beige dress! I'm unfortunately on a super strict budget now since B/F is starting a new job next week that pays significantly less.  Now I've got to work with what I have!

I <3 ruffles

of course I'd wear a strapless bra if I kept it
