Ruffly

I'll be attending a wedding in October and you know what that means! Time for a new dress! I do enjoy getting dolled up once in a while. I'm on the petite side so finding dresses that fit can be a challenge sometimes.  I could look at dresses forever.  I've even jokingly told my boyfriend if I could wear two dresses at once I would! I probably won't commit and buy one until the sales hit.. I'm wishing for at least 60% off.  That's my magic number lol. Here are a few things that have caught my eye.

Lanvin Suede Moccasins

I got these a while back in December when they were 60% off (second cut) on the Barney's website.  Previously, I've only been familar with their ballet scrunch flats.  For this style I take a 37 which is only a half size bigger than my normal and for their ballet flats I take a full size up, 37.5.  They are by far the comfiest flats I've ever owned.  They are padded around the sides to provide extra cushion when walking.  There is also a hidden wedge heel to give a little extra support.  Although suede is not my favorite shoe material by choice, it definitely goes with the moccasin style.  Lanvin has adorned these flats with a complementing grosgrain ribbon.  There were two choices that were on sale, the black and the beige.  I decided to go with the beige since I didn't own any nude colored shoes yet.

It has been nice out the last couple of weeks so I was able to wear them out on a shopping trip with my son and they were totally comfortable.  After a couple hours of wear, I had no pain or blisters of any sort which my narrow feet are prone to with new shoes. They go great with skinny pants! I totally recommend a pair of Lanvins if you're in the market for a pair of flats.  They may be pricey but usually during the season sales you can get them for 30-40% off and even more if your size makes it to the second cut.  Lanvin has pretty much perfected the ballet flat, no other brands compare in regards to fit.  Tried and true in my experience.  Hopefully I'll remember to take some modeling pictures for future posts!

Jimmy Choo for Ugg Kaia Boots

What is more comfortable than a wearing pair of cozy Ugg boots in brisk and chilly weather? I have been a fan for nearly 6 years and have gone through a few pairs and even ended up giving a couple of pairs to my mom!  Though not as chic as other women's boots like Frye and Loeffler Randall, they will always be number one in comfort with a touch of cuteness.  When they first launched the Jimmy Choo for Ugg line, I thought the $595-$795 price range was way too steep for a pair Uggs especially since regular Uggs will run you less than $200.  Like my friend told me, "they are too bedazzled for me, I'll stick to my regular Uggs."  I agreed that some of them had a bit too much studding on them and were really busy looking.  Of all the styles, I liked the Kaia leopard print the most since it had an interesting blue color and also the least of amount of studs.

When I heard they were marked down to 40% off, I hesitantly purchased them off the Nordstrom website for about $357.  When I got them in the mail, I was on the fence about keeping them since they were still kind of pricey in my opinion even with the discount.  And so they sat unused for 3 weeks until I made up my mind.  I decided to log on see what else Nordstrom had to offer and noticed that the boots were further marked down to 60% off! I chatted with an online rep and they said they would honor the price adjustment as a one time courtesy since I had passed the allotted time.  Woohoo! So I ended up getting them for $238, and that was when I promptly took them out of the box and wore them out.

So far I'm liking them.  They go well with basic and neutral outfits which I tend to usually wear anyway. They are more sturdier than the traditional Ugg and require an extra 10 seconds of tugging them on since they are slightly stiffer.  The boots feel slightly heavier than regular Uggs probably because the studs, but it's not enough to bother me.  The sheepskin lining is slightly better than the regular Uggs, but still not the same as the models from 2007 and before.  They use a better grosgrain trim than the usual satin ribbon, so overall they are well made.  I'll be looking forward to another collaboration next season if they decide to do another.  What's next? Jimmy Choo and Crocs? I'm only kidding!

H&M Conscious Collection

H&M is launching a new line called the Conscious Collection on April 14! They are using "green" methods to produce this line such as the use of recycled and organic materials.  I have to say I'm in love with the collection because each piece is gorgeously understated with a touch of lace, beading, or pleating.  It is these simple touches that make each item a keeper and can remain a classic in your wardrobe for years to come.   The prices are very reasonable which gives us another reason to stock up favorites  I already have made a mental note of the ones I want!

Introduction

Hi everyone! Welcome to my new blog. I decided to start a personal blog since the other one is based on one specific- the brand Balenciaga.  Stay tuned for more posts. :)

For this blog, I want it to be a personal style blog.  I would describe my style as very casual as I am still a stay at home mom and part time student studying for my business degree.  Cute things catch my eye, and I would love to share it with you!
