Wedding

I had a great time at my cousin's wedding!  It was a beautiful outdoor wedding with a traditional chinese reception in Chinatown afterward in the evening.  My four year old was also the ringbearer! It's his first time wearing a tie.

Since my dress to Rent the Runway was a fail, I decided to wear my BB Dakota Jack dress which was so comfortable and also did not require a strapless bra.  It was freezing that day, so I decided to wear my Anthro ruffled cardigan which goes nicely with dresses.  I switched out to these Manolo Blahnik-styled sandals here by Touch Ups at the reception since I didn't want to get my heel trapped in the grass.  I was going to use my Balenciaga envelope clutch but went with my newish Givenchy Pandora (post about this coming soon) so I could carry my camera and zoom lens for photos.

Rent the Runway Fail

I chose to rent a dress from Rent the Runway as my outfit to a family member's wedding I was attending last Saturday.  When I received the Milly "Cotton Candy" ruffle dress, I was very disappointed with the condition of the dress (the one that fit)! Since they allow you to choose two sizes, I went with size 0 (my usual size) and 2.  To my dismay after upon closer inspection, the size 0 dress was in really worn condition.  I was surprised that they would actually send me a dress where many parts of the silk fabric were fraying and running, the belt loop and tie belt were missing! I tried it on and it looked like the dress had lived through many occasions and that it was being worn for the 15th time.

I reached out to RTR immediately and they offered a refund.  I spoke to them again today and they said it was minus the shipping charges.  WTF? After much arguing, she agreed to refund the $12.95 shipping fee.  Insane, what kind of company sends out a damaged dress and bags the shipping fee? I will NEVER be using them again.  If you do plan on using them, be sure to have a back up dress ready even though that totally defeats the point of renting.

They seriously need to go through inventory and weed out the POS dresses.

Looking good so far but...

Leopard

I totally forgot I bought this pink leopard tank dress from H&M a while back and finally found it while digging through my clothes.  Decided that it was too much leopard and threw on a white tee to turn it into a miniskirt. I put on my Isabel Marant Dixie boots (which I'm still very in love with) and called it a day.

What I'm wearing:
Necklace: Forever 21 here
Tee: Vince size xs similar here
Dress: H&M size xs similar here
Boots: Isabel Marant Dixie (sold out, but closest thing is Anthracite Dickers)
Bag: Balenciaga

Bridal Shower

Today I went to my friend (cousin's fiance) bridal shower.  I wore a floral dress from Topshop and modeled with Christian Louboutin Miss Tack Pump in Taupe.  Ended up wearing Jimmy Choo flats instead for comfort.  The little candy/dessert table was adorable!

Mason by Michelle Mason Ruffle Tank Dress

I fell in love with this designer after browsing endlessly for a comfortable dress to wear to my cousin's wedding coming up in October.  This Mason by Michelle Mason ruffle tank dress in nude looked perfect because of its delicate and gorgeous ruffled bottom.  It popped up in size 2 the other day on Shopbop, so I figured why not give it a try.  I was really hoping for a size 0 but it seems like her dresses sell like hotcakes even at full price, but I was able to get it during its first markdown of 30% off paying about $286.

What I didn't like was that the neckline was too deep and kept showing my bra (cup area).  Also racer back tank style isn't my 100% fave either. The drop waist was way too big after tying it up.  It kept bunching up in a unflattering way like I had a spare tire around tummy area. Bleh! At this price if I don't love it.. it's going back.  Maybe a size 0 would have been better.. but I'll never know! So off it went back to Shopbop... so if you're looking for a size 2.. it will pop up in the next couple of weeks.

So my goal now is to find a gray or nude/beige dress! I'm unfortunately on a super strict budget now since B/F is starting a new job next week that pays significantly less.  Now I've got to work with what I have!

I <3 ruffles

of course I'd wear a strapless bra if I kept it

Ruffly

I'll be attending a wedding in October and you know what that means! Time for a new dress! I do enjoy getting dolled up once in a while. I'm on the petite side so finding dresses that fit can be a challenge sometimes.  I could look at dresses forever.  I've even jokingly told my boyfriend if I could wear two dresses at once I would! I probably won't commit and buy one until the sales hit.. I'm wishing for at least 60% off.  That's my magic number lol. Here are a few things that have caught my eye.

H&M Conscious Collection

H&M is launching a new line called the Conscious Collection on April 14! They are using "green" methods to produce this line such as the use of recycled and organic materials.  I have to say I'm in love with the collection because each piece is gorgeously understated with a touch of lace, beading, or pleating.  It is these simple touches that make each item a keeper and can remain a classic in your wardrobe for years to come.   The prices are very reasonable which gives us another reason to stock up favorites  I already have made a mental note of the ones I want!
